The History of the Kingdom of Israel

The most famous mass deportation ever carried out in neo-Assyrian times was that of the people of Israel after that conquest of Samaria in 722 BC. The deported Israelites fared quite well in their new environments. While the Sumerians were transferred to a variety of locations in the heart of the Syrian Empire and on its eastern borders, people from other areas were newly settled in Samaria and the emptied lands of the former kingdom of Israel.
