The top layer, the epiblast will become a lot of the epithelium and skin. The mesoderm is what I'm going to explain now, what this does. And then the endoderm kind of just becomes the gut tube. So where's this little... so, lasso, there's a kind of a streak that starts to form. It's called the nodal streak. Okay. All the connected tissue, all that stuff comes from the middle part. Because of a single group of lassoing nodal cilia cell. Beautiful.
One of the four tissue types of the body, epithelia lines and protects our organs from the external and internal environment. In this episode, Dr Matt & Dr Mike explain how the different shape and layers of epithelia tell you what function it performs (form = functions) and highlight examples in the body where you can find each type. They also explore cancer, metaplasia, dysplasia, and Dr Matt's mums skin cancer diagnosis and surgery.
