How to Be a Better Reviewer
Dr. Flores: As a reviewer for many years and a section editor, it does offer you a bit of a thousand foot view. But I continue to be sometimes pleasantly surprised at what some people have seen, which I have failed to see when I've looked at papers. So I do not think it's possible or reasonable for authors to be completely without bias. And the problem is when you're doing a study, you can be so into thick of it that you may not see some things that an outsider who knows the field can see very clearly.
