Buckley was like the reasonable conservative, or good conservative, in the kind of the popular imagination. He had this gatekeeper function. So how do you think that's different than what you describe as the democrats denouncing? It seems like it doesn't cost buckley so much in terms of his political project to denounce certain figures who may be morally and strategically wrong.
