Is the Peace Movement Justified?

i find it interesting when i read history books, and the historian is just telling me in a straightforward way, here's what happened. If you really want to understand history, as opposed to just signal how virtuous you are, you have to kind of get in side people's heads and say, ok, why did they do this? What were theyyouow, what was motivating them? How can this be understood from the perspective of, why would a reasonable human being try to do this? And that kind of charitable interpretation is necessary to have a genuine understanding of why somebody does what they do, even if you disagree with what they do - therefore you're a monster.
