The Common Pitfalls in Diagnosis of Zoster
The most common is just immune senescence. As people get older, their immune system's weakened and so we see that zoster is much more common as people age. You can get it at any age, some people get zoster in their 20s but it's very rare in the 20s, 30s, 40s. It begins to increase in the 50s and really takes off in the 60s and it just keeps climbing. Anyone who's on any kind of immunosuppressive medication is going to be an increased risk for reactivation of this virus.
