In the mid-70s, going to work for Xerox was a big deal. "I just didn't feel like there was anything unique about it," he says of his first job as a sales trainee. He took an interview with Bullock's department store in Los Angeles even though he had already accepted one from Xerox. And then they said, well, we took him back and he said, we're going to pay you the MBA rate, even though I had a bachelor's degree.
