Sally Kohn: We think of Silicon Valley in terms of the birth of the microchip, but not so much as a place that was invested in building weapons. She says Palo Alto has been trying to figure out how do we become so powerful that we can justify our position in the world or at least just defend it? Kohn: There's some irony in what your missile keenism going hand in hand with Palo Alto and Stanford's anti communism because it depended on huge amounts of federal money to keep the system going.
