How to Write a Good First Draft

Thomas Harris would write out very simple sentences for each sort of specific scenario so say you know like I do in the book I try and boil down entire scenes into as few words as possible. What he did is he had the entire room sort of empty because it's after hours nobody's working. He wanted to create something that was interesting that wouldn't just be about Starling being called from a shooting range but also how she could play different roles with her new job.
