Mulvad: I think this could be really easily resolved with perhaps a developer options setting in Android that says, Do not do this. Could we not just have a universal, you know, like example.com kind of reserved domain name that would automatically be hard coded in every device to always go to a known good captive portal style thing? Would that not work as well? "I'm not sure how we can make the captive portal situation worse than it already is," Mulvad said.
