The idea of perishability is hard for us to wrap our heads around, because it seems to be such a barrier between us and understanding the landscapes as people would have seen them at the time. Even there, you know, centuries and millennia further on, like, it's really hard to find the remnants of any sort of decayed structure built of organics. Got to be even harder when o talking about the neolithic. I think thats whor we'd been really lucky during our excavations in the outer hebrides,. before we started at darrington walls and found the houses.
