The task of adolescence is individuation, right? It's your own identity. But if your childhood is kind of torpedoed by all these battles with your parents, it's hard to go through that developmental task of individuation because you feel pulled to take a side. You want to give your child permission to kind of think their own thoughts and back to why is this so damaging to children? So what happens? What how like in your experience, what happens when this all starts? And that kid has enough critical thinking and has enough perspective to realize, oh crap, I was played.
