The Problem With Mathematics

Galileo's ultimate goal was to be able to understand physical reality solely through the language of mathematics. To explain qualities, he says what we experience when we see, smell, or touch something is not inside of the object somehow. He had to effectively cut out qualitative experiences from what the theoretical model was trying to understand. In compartmentalizing our focus like this has obviously been very helpful from volcanoes all the way down to physics.
