Are You Expected or Pressured to Act in the Way That Ministers Are?
I've been struck by contacting departments and contacting individual MPs who've left government or ministers or whatever, they are so reluctant to tell us whether or not they've taken it. Now, it seems to me that this is just a matter of pure transparency whether or not ministers are taking this money. Given the amount of redundancies that have been from ministerial ranks over the last year, I think there is definitely a case of a proper understanding of what was going on. Yes, ministers should be entitled to some redundancy for the reasons that you've just taken us through, but there should obviously be some exception if they are reinstated into another job quite soon afterwards.
