Antoine Lavoisier and the French Revolution
Antoine Lavoisier was the most significant Pioneer of science in the 18th century. He crafted the oxygen theory of combustion and respiration And his clique of chemists in Paris created the nomenclature of chemistry. Americans were initially very enthusiastic about Lavoisier in the 1780s and even into their early 1790s But their opinions soured really in a direct correlation to their opinions about the French Revolution.
