The Red Dwarf Paradox
75% of stars in the galaxy are red dwarfs, which are smaller and cooler. It could be that there are equal chances of a species growing up around any star but we just happen to be one of the ones that grew up around a yellow star. If intelligent life evolves pretty rapidly, if it doesn't take very long to evolve, then the fact that red dwarfs happen to live longer does not help them.
