The Impact of Rural Abandonment on the Ecosystem
Rural Portugal has gone through a period of rural abandonment. People left the countryside to go and make a better living in cities. The shrub layer came back, which started fires. So they've been trying to figure out how to stop these fires. They brought in an ancient breed of horse called Saraya Horses to graze the brush down.
