The Limit on Climbing Everest

The authorities in Nepal are considering an age limit on people climbing Everest. You have to be over 16 to be allowed to climb Everest to get a permit. The Nepalese guy that held the record before did climb it at the age of 76. So I wonder if maybe they're using that. How many people over 65 are trying to climb Everest every year? And I'm imagining it's not a huge number.
