Persuasion is a lighthearted game about sending letters to other people. You want to marry somebody with a preponderance of one kind of symbol over another. There are three different symbols and you gradually get more information as it goes out. But fundamentally what Persuasion is about is about power. What really is about the imbalance of power and the fact that you need permission from other people to get anywhere. And so there are marvelous parallels that can be drawn here between courtship, whether it's about in the Victorian era or any other period.
