Townsend's Life Story
Townsend was one of the first british guitavists to make detours a major part of his personal style. He saw keith richard swinging his arm over his head and then bringing it down on the guitar to loosen up his muscles. Not wanting to look like he was copying richards, townsend didn't do that move either. But when they appeared on thank your lucky stars s in february 19 64, Townsend took that as a green light to make that move, which became known as the windmill,. His physical presence on stage would be all about his body, to distract from his face - because he was embarrassed about the size of his nose.
