Imaginary Worlds

CHAPTER

The Origins of Warhammer

In the early 1980s, Warhammer was developed by a team with a company led by Brian Ansel, Rick Priestley and Richard Hallowell. The idea was to create a game that would require people to buy specific miniatures for that game. But James says, in terms of the game itself, it wasn't terribly groundbreaking. On almost any level you want down, everything is to the max, totally over the top. It's all underlain by the central premise of the whole thing, which they used to print on the box lid, I'm not sure they do anymore. In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war.
