I don't think it has gone down in the past couple of years. China is trying to address this because those inequalities, they bring out a friction within society. The rich are still very rich, but many of the middle class have lost out in these three years. So yes, the government is surely trying to do something about it. It's very big inequalities, which is also mentioned in the book with the rate of inequality in China is big.
