The Bunyup aristocracy is an old Australian slang term that's lobbed at people who consider themselves aristocrats. The term came about in 1853 when a conservative politician proposed establishing hereditary peerages in colonial New South Wales. Liberal Senator Jane Hume even accused the Teals of being part of the new Bunyup aristocracy.
