God's law is specifically what you are calling them to be obeying teaching the kids that you are under authority just like they are under your authority. It's not a choice between finishing the spaghetti sauce and spanking the child is spanking the Child. If you don't understand that flowchart of what is most important what is least important then you yourself will make mistakes. And I think when you realize that you don't have an option and you are to obey the Lord you're not going to be in such a huff about disciplining them.
