Baudrillard uses transsexuality and by implication, transgenderism as simply a metaphor for the unlocateability of the body. For Baudrillard, no one actually inhabits transgender subjectivity. Rather, transgenderism represents the subject floating free of the body in cyberspace. The ethereal where the body doesn't really matter anymore. It's the social environment or cyberspace which you plug into with an ethernet cable to have your own avatar be whoever you want today.
