The RMT Is the Most Left-Wing Union in the Country

The government does not want the rail maritime and transport union to win its current dispute with employers in the rail sector. The RMT is the most left-wing union in the country it's widely understood to be strategically crucial. Transport workers are one of the few sectors of the workforce who do have the capacity relatively easily to cause massive scale national disruption but also not really to threaten anybody's lives. If they win their strike this will very likely infuse and encourage like all these other strike waves that are going on.
