How Do You Play Ping Pong?

I'm used to playing on tournament-ready tables. There's such a huge difference though between ping pong and pool. And it's humiliating when you hit it and like two balls on the back roll like a quarter inch and nothing else moves. I play pool once a month or so but am the worst at breaking ever. We're still poor like half-way through a game. I'm just gonna rack them up.
