The Frustration at the Attention Given to Lydia Thorpe and Jacinta Price
I can sympathize with the frustration, and this was mentioned to me a couple of months ago in other conversations with the S campaigners. I think it's a little wishful to want the debate over the voice to be entirely above or beyond Canberra and politics. That's self-evidently true, but it needed to be legislatively conceived. The wording of the proposed alteration to the Constitution had to pass Parliament, inescapably it was subject to politics. And I think there was a sort of a strategic point to it as well, which was to try to diminish Peter Dutton's insistent framing of the voice - he always refers to it as the Canberra voice. He's staked
