Cindy: It seems to me that whenever anything happens between China and the west the memory of Bagua Indian doing is brought out again. Alec: I think there is a real rhyme now with what's happening in China with you know 120 years ago where the nation under Xi Jinping is making a conscious decision to close itself off, he says. Cindy: We are also seeing that historical parallel being explicitly made and accepted by the Chinese population as a sort of justification for why maybe we don't need to be connected to the world anymore. Do you think any of that historical memory colored the way that Chinese people interacted with you without with your met you when you were in China?
