English people just don't like even the one serving the French people who are going to France. The idea that she has to speak French to them is just that I'll for God, don't make me speak French for goodness sake. And luckily, the French woman didn't seem to speak English enough to her puddles. She's probably paid about minimum wage. But that's, of course, there is another side to that, which is the English refusal to learn another language. One of the things I find very frustrating, if you don't try to learn another languages, you don't understand the other person's point of view with a language.
Special Guest Mark Steel joins me to discuss cultural and linguistic differences between the UK and France, plus accents in the UK and a little tour of some places in the UK that you don't know about. Also includes a discussion of swearing and rude language in Britain. What is the R word which you should never say in a specific part of the UK? Listen on to find out.
