The Consolation of Death in a Religious Funeral

When I've been to secular funerals, the religious people amongst the congregation if you will, their complaint has been there was never any discussion about what was happening next. So at least it's part of a conversation about what happens next in a religious funeral. It must be some consolation in that or closure. What we do have is a conviction that this is not all there is and that beyond the horizon of death stuff happens. For some maybe that's a comforting image of all their former dogs scampering across a sunlit field to meet them which would be lovely.
