The Battle to End the Teaching of the History of the United States

The only thing that combats bad ideas is information. This is really the point of the ongoing conversation about how educated of an electorate we should be in terms of the history of the country. The actual fight isn't about how somebody emotionally feels about you because you're black or because you're gay. It's about what you're able to say about yourself and your history in this place as it relates to the treatment that you've received. And it matters for intellectual reasons more than it matters for emotional ones.
