Napoleon's First Italian Campaign

Many of the names that would later be inscribed in a place of honor under the Arc de Triomphe marched into Italy with Napoleon. For those officers who survived, Napoleon's first Italian campaign was their ticket to wealth and glory. When he arrived in camp on March 26, 1796, I doubt any of them would have believed it. No one knew the Army of Italy better than General Andre Massena.
