In addition to all his exploits, Casanova published about 150 books and pamphlets during his lifetime. He understood the laws of probability, which was an emerging mathematical concept in 18th century. And he convinced the French crown to institute a lottery because they badly needed money. That would have empowered France, which eventually overthrew the Venetian Republic.
