The Pain of Leprosy
I'm fascinated by leprosy because I saw so much of it as a medical student. One thing this novel beautifully contends with throughout is considering the types of pain we feel. And whether it be a blessing or a curse to be anesthetized in various ways. The outside world has its echoes on our little cloistered lives.
