CRISPR and the Gene Backs Inhibitors

CRISPR is made up of two parts. The GRNA sends the scissors to a particular point in your genome, and then Cas9 at the pair of scissors. What actually happens is that the guide RNA basically makes a single double-stranded cut. Double-stranded cuts are incredibly dangerous in a living cell because they generate mutations. And so as soon as that double-strander cut happens in your cells, your cells turn on a repair mechanism in order to repair it.
