Senators Issue Satellite Phones, Offer Demonstrations on Upgraded Security Devices
Only 50 senators have accepted the devices. The Senate, Sergeant, and Arms said they are to be used in case of an emergency that takes out communications. Federal funding will pay for the satellite airtime needed for the devices to work. A district court judge in New York made history by being the first court to rule that a warrant is required for cell phone searches at the border.
