How to Use Callbacks in Your Joke
I think the key to callbacks is really to make sure it flows with the material. If there's a natural way that the callback comes into your joke, then by all means use it. But I think forcing callbacks can be sniffed out by the audience. They're like, oh, you said that before. And now I know why that joke hits even harder kind of thing. So don't try to force them. Let it come naturally if the joke takes you there.
