Churchill is our master in this. He's very persuasive about this that even when the church is being run ably by the pope and even when the Brits aren't doing so well, he does not want ecclesiastical government. Nobody on the center right wants religion to govern the affairs of men. And there's something great about them partly because they're mere in hell and partly because they love very deeply.
