The Mass: The Last Go in Peace

The word mass comes from actually the last part of it. In Latin is the final go in peace or what we have a bunch of different go forth. The name is attached to, it's called the mass because of that Missa S there. So even though you probably think of the Eucharist, the word itself comes from that sending forth aspect.
