The Importance of Height in Pediatrics

There are racial and ethnic disparities that have been described in both evaluation and treatment of children with disordered growth. It can be a sign of underlying pathology, but by itself short stature doesn't mean that somebody has a disease. Height is an important vital sign in pediatrics. If you find a point that's not consistent with prior pattern, go re-measure the patient yourself.
