It's not the case that people are terribly confused or don't understand paying for an upgrade there's as you said it's a it's an older style of selling software in 2002 this was the way way to sell software on the webYou make a version you sell it and then you have a discounted upgrade later and get some additional revenue from people who are already using it now.
