Romeo and Juliet - The Spring Uncoils
Enwee on the nature of tragedy. In a tragedy nothing is in doubt and everyone's destiny is known, that makes for tranquility. Death in a melodrama is really horrible because it is inevitable. He who kills is as innocent as he who gets killed. It's all a matter of what part you're playing. Tragedy is restful but there isn't any hope. There's something mechanical about it - like one of those elaborate patterns of dominoes set off by a single nudge. Sit back, enjoy it, they're all going to die and there's nothing anyone can do. This is only just to finish.
