The author was basically pointing out that as you get older, there is a temptation to not remain steadfast. He even says to older women, older women, likewise, are to be reverent in behavior and not slander or slaves to much wine. Think about that gossiping all day. Just pursuing pleasure all day. This is the stereotype of older women. They're like the moms who come into town with all the young college girls that want to look just like them. And yeah, it's very, yeah. They're to teach what is good.
