We don't fully understand what altered states of consciousness are. I think hypnosis may be one of those, you know, back in the 80s, Hillgard had his theory of the hidden observer. One part is running at a subconscious level while the other conscious part is underhypnosis. So because of that, my starting point is that there's this thing, people are suggestible to one degree or not in one context or not. The self is something of an illusion.
