Pico de la Mirandola was an Italian Renaissance scholar. He argued for a Neo-Platonic interpretation of the meaning of being. His teacher, Ficino, thought he missed the point of Plato's metaphysics. Pico died in 1494 at the age of 31; his work is now considered to be one of Italy's greatest ever discoveries.
