Blyer's Foot Was Injured in the 1970 Season

Blyer was put on the injured reserve list after breaking his hamstring. Doctors found more shrapnel in blyer's foot that the army surgeons had missed. The next course of action would be to get blyer a third operation on his foot, paid for by the team. Blyer said he'd rather play one quarter per season than be the world's greatest scout. He sold insurance and spent every hour he wasn't either asleep or at the office running.
