I can guarantee you if a 40 gig drive, rust drive did not die until like 2020 it was not getting powered off and on every day. They don't have any stats here about the power cycle count on those disks but that would definitely be interesting data. The most egregious of them managed to limp all the way to retirement in 2021. I believe it might have been 2022 with they had this one Packard Bell machine for my kid you not 1991 not a single lick of maintenance had ever been done to it. It still use that thing to run this ancient late 1980s MS DOS mode like estimation software for contractors. That kid from like let me set up a VM for you know something.
