What's to Say That This Didn't Happen to Joseph Smith?
One of my friends has a sibbling who experiences psychosis, particularly delusions. He said watching his broth or go through psychosis was what made him lose his faith. And i really think its like, depends on how people look at relig because he wanted to dig more and more into the religion to answer his questions. But for example, when i tell her this is happening, she's not like, w anybody could be hearing this? She's like, well, that's clearly satan. So she wasn't, at that time questioning anything.
