Introduction

Joanna Lomley and Stephen Barlow have been married for nearly 40 years. They've got loads of shared passions, but one of the biggest is classical music. The couple are now making a new podcast together called Joanna and the Maestro. Fern Cotton talks to them about why certain pieces of music make us feel a particular way.

Yeah, I did. So I think the term I latched onto was describing it as content addresses pressing challenges that we can solve, which on the one hand feels like an intuitively correct statement, because that's kind of a prerequisite you want to write about things that your product or your service can do. That's how you like hook people. That's how you get them interested. But I also have in my head this kind of old school marketing funnel framework, really linear thing where people go from like awareness, consideration, decision, and all the content that fits with that. And that just felt like a completely different separate framework. And I couldn't really reconcile the two of them in my head.
Speaker 1
Yeah, and that makes perfect sense. So the, this is a good thing that we have people edit our stuff before it gets published. Because in some ways that was me like I didn't, I did not do, that's just too vague. It's too vague a description. I think what I think bottom of the funnel content is relates more about like the distance to the product and distance is sort of a funny word in this context. But what I mean by that is like bottom on the funnel content would talk directly about a product. Middle the funnel content would be a little further away. It might introduce readers to the idea of that product or service. Top of funnel content is indirectly related. You know, something, a topic in that industry or in that world, but not necessarily trying to, you know what, I was going to say not necessarily trying to get them to convert, but that's sort of a whole nother framework that you could use. It's furthe, it's furthest away from a product.
